Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Ridgewood will be welcoming Snow Urbin to our studio for coaching lessons September 1st, 2011!

Urbin is known for her unique and dynamic fusion of styles, and she has appeared in music videos with Madonna and Shakira.

Millions of viewers enjoyed Snow Urbin as one of the most memorable contestants on Season 1 of Fox‘s So You Think You Can Dance. Urbin later appeared on ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars before lending her expertise as a judge for “Dancing with Chicago Celebrities“. Urbin is currently teaching in the United States and abroad as an exclusive Arthur Murray Franchised Dance Studio traveling dance consultant, where she continues to inspire lives worldwide.

Your donations allow the Foundation to keep up with the growing demand for its services by increasing assistance to diabetics of all ages. Expansion of our Medical Assistance Program is critical due to the increased number of diagnosed diabetics and the number of people who cannot afford their medications.  With so many people out of work and un-insured the DFI will provide short term medications and diabetic supplies while a more permanent plan is put into place.

Because self-management is so critical to successfully living with diabetes, knowledge about the disease as well as problem solving and coping skills is an absolute necessity.  Our free seminars are taught by health care professions who present up-to-date information about diet, nutrition, exercise, complications and other topics essential to living a healthier life with diabetes.  Given that 80% of Type 2 diabetes can be prevented through simple lifestyle changes, our Public Education program has never been more important.

Our Campership Program sends children, who might not otherwise be able to afford it, to a co-ed diabetes camp for children.  The camp offers an opportunity for children to live and play among peers who share their disease, enjoying an active and safe experience regardless of their medical condition, while leaning more about how to take care of themselves in order to lead healthy and active lives.

Between now and a cure, the DFI will be there to help patients with diabetes.  For these people, the need is real and the need is now.

” We won Top Associate Bronze couple last night!  After a nice cocktail hour reception and dinner with a SUPER dance performance by a group called The Swing Guys, the awards were announced. We were not expecting to win but we were thrilled!   We spent the rest of the night taking pictures with the other winners.  We danced a bunch of dances with the other Arthur Murray students from Italy, Brazil, and even Taipei! We had barely met them and could barely speak and understand eachother, but had a blast!!!

The clock turned 12  and we could have kept on dancing and dancing, but with a 5:30am wake up call, we packed it in.  However, we couldn’t fall asleep until 1:30am, thinking about how much fun we had, how hard we worked and how much we enjoyed traveling with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Ridgewood!

Winning was the icing on the cake of a trip of a lifetime…not THE trip of a lifetime because we are absolutely doing this again and are looking forward to the other Arthur Murray dance events in Italy, Argentina, Austria…Arthur Murray Ridgewood staff…you better keep your bags packed!”
